FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q.: What is this going to accomplish?

A: We walk one step at a time in any
pilgrimage; in penance, for prayer (communing w/ God) and praise of Him; and
also  for our President and legislators to see our Faith and (hopefully)
change the mandate coercing the Catholic Church and other private institutions
into providing unjust health care.
We also will meet many people on the Way to witness to and (hopefully) share
the Good News with; we will show others our Faith. Just like if your child
asked, "What will going to school or soccer practice accomplish?" -you would
not hold them back even though at the time (standing in the kitchen or
somewhere) nothing seems to be getting  accomplished.

Q.: I can't go/what can I do?

A. Good question! You may pray and /
or fast (each day or as allowable) or send a donation (see "donation" button on home page of this blog) or offer a sacrifice (get up early and pray/do a good deed), or you may simulate the
Pilgrimage at home and walk on a treadmill or around the block as some have
suggested and pray as you do it and think of us!
Also you may follow our journey on this blog!
Leave a comment, we'd love to hear from you.

Q.:Isn't it gonna' be hot?

A. Yes! (A pilgrimage involves some form of
penance, overcoming internal and external challenges--we made it thru Spain
in the Summer and can do this!)

Q.: Why walk?

A: Christ walked all thru Palestine/Israel; St James walked thru
northern Spain; St John of the Cross walked all over Spain; St Thomas
walked to India; The Camino de Santiago de Compestella (northern
Spain--see: The Way of St. James ) is an ancient revered "walkway"; Pope John Paul II walked thru
Poland and a lot of countries in the world.
Walking is slow, meditative, conscientious and physical--and Christ-like. We
can pray, enjoy creation as we walk, and exert ourselves   and also imitate
Our Lord Himself Who walked in a kind of exile in this world. We also
undertake and complete a walking process from beginning to end, and overcome
self.

 Q.:What should I bring?

A: Pilgrims would be given a suggested packing list at a later date.

Q.:How did this Pilgrimage start?

A: Thru the congruence of three ideas in
some people's minds:

1) We must do something, publicly, together, more; about
this unjust federal mandate in order to call attention to need of overturning of it.

2-A pilgrimage is a beautiful, adventurous way of living one's Faith w/
others--why not?

3-It's summer and some folks can anticipate, maybe taking a
day or two off work and we can enable a lot of folks to participate in
various ways thru consciousness-raising.

Q.: Isn't this 100 mi pilgrimage a  bit much?

A.: No. It is our Faith and
free expression of--and, besides, other groups & individuals  have their own
first amendment rights threatened too--so we are walking for them also.

Q.: Why now?

A. Because the mandate began August 1, 2012, and, has still not been reversed.
 If not now, when?
