In June, Father John J. Lombardi, from St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock, MD, will set out with a group of prayerful pilgrims on a walking-journey of 100 miles!
Step-by-step, day-by-day, they will journey the lovely Eastern Shore of Maryland.
A pilgrimage is a journey taken for spiritual reasons.
These pilgrims are walking for the freedom of all people in the United States of America, where, due to recent mandates enacted by the current Administration, religious freedoms, in particular, are being stripped away.
This walk is a prayer. It is a penance. It is a witness for the beautiful faith, Truth, and Teachings of the Catholic Church. It is a journey of solidarity for all citizens; not just Christians; joining talents, blessings, will-power & determination to become a "voice" crying out in the desert:
"FREEDOM for ALL!"
In addition to the quiet, steadfast, stand the pilgrims are taking for freedom, they also wish to reach out to others and serve those in need through their walk.
Currently, Religious Freedom Pilgrimage 2016 is in its planning stages.
Stay tuned to this blog so that you may follow the pilgrims on their journey, read the updates, enjoy the stories of the places they go and the people they meet, and, most importantly, offer them your prayers, encouragement, and support along the way.
In the words of St. Augustine; words which Martin Luther King, Jr. echoed from a Birmingham jail cell: "An unjust law, is no law, at all."
You are welcome to JOIN the pilgrims and walk with them!
